Work Safer, Work Happier: Creating a Culture of Safety, Health & Joy
Course Description: Have you ever wondered which comes first, job satisfaction or a safe work environment? Some researchers will say that job satisfaction most often occurs first because satisfied workers are more frequently safe workers, but safe workers are not necessarily satisfied workers. (Blair,1999). I believe however that the two go hand in hand. Workers cannot create a safe work environment unless they feel safe, valued and find purpose in their work that brings joy and meaning to their lives. In this session we will discuss why increasing job satisfaction is as important as eliminating physical hazards in the workplace. We will also explore best practices that help to create a culture of safety, health and joy where employees can work safer and work happier.
