Description: Statistics over the past several years have shown that there has been an increase in workplace violence. In fact, active threat active shooter situations are most likely to occur in places of businesses. Knowing this information, it is essential that we train our businesses and citizens to respond appropriately. This stop-the-threat training is a perfect example of how law enforcement is working together with our citizens and businesses to create a safer community. The same principles taught in this course can also be used for personal and family safety. The Cass County Sheriff’s Office is committed to providing public safety to our citizens and wants to thank you for making your safety, the safety of others, and our community's safety a top priority. About Our Speaker: Sheriff Jahner began employment with the Cass County Sheriff’s Office in May of 1998 as a Correctional Officer. During his time at the Sheriff’s Office he has worked as a Patrol Deputy, Narcotics Detective assigned to the Narcotics Drug Task Force, Sergeant overseeing Patrol and Investigations, Training, and supervised the Metro Area Street Crimes Unit. He was promoted to Captain in August 2016 and supervised the Field Services Division which included patrol, emergency preparedness, school resource program, street crimes, fugitive recovery, public information officer and department training. He also served with Red River Valley SWAT for 17 years, four of those years as the Assistant Commander. He is a certified State and National Police Instructor and have provided over 2200 hours of Peace Officer Standards and Training Board (POST) certified training hours to officers in the states of North Dakota, Minnesota and South Dakota. As a Deputy with the Sheriff’s Office he has also received over 2900 hours of specialized training. In 2017 Sheriff Jahner was appointed to the North Dakota Peace Officer Standards and Training Board by North Dakota Attorney General. In January 2019 he was elected to the Office of Cass County Sheriff.
