Description: Vaping is on the rise in youth across the nation and North Dakota is no exception. Ever-changing information and education to students, parents, staff and community members is essential as tobacco companies aim to addict our youth with fun flavors, easily-concealable devices (you don't even know what you're looking at or for), and advertising via Netflix, YouTube and various social media platforms. Learn more about vaping during this informative session and see different vape products firsthand.
About Our Speaker: Annabel earned her Bachelor of Science in Public Health Education from the University of North Dakota. She is a Certified Health Education Specialist (CHES) that has worked in various fields including environmental health, violence prevention, and now tobacco. She has been employed with Fargo Cass Public Health just short of a year. Before moving into the tobacco space, she was a Prevention & Education Specialist at the CVIC in Grand Forks, ND, where she coordinated a community-wide violence prevention program called Green Dot.
Tobacco prevention has changed significantly in the last several years with the introduction of vaping and easy-to-conceal devices. Vaping is on the rise in youth across the nation and North Dakota is no exception. In her current role as Tobacco Prevention Coordinator, she works continuously to stay up-to-date on the ever-changing information on vaping. Educating students, parents, staff and community members is essential as tobacco companies aim to addict our youth with fun flavors, easily-concealable devices and advertising via Netflix, YouTube and social media platforms. Speaking within high school and middle school health classes as well as at several elementary schools, Annabel has seen the nation’s vaping epidemic firsthand right here in Cass County and the state of North Dakota.
